Albuquerque – Partners with KRQE and Isotopes for Operation School Bell

The Assistance League’s Operation School Bell®, in collaboration with the Albuquerque Public School’s Title 1 Administration, reviewed the percentages of free and reduced lunches within the istrict.  We then selected the top 8 schools with the highest percentages of need to receive new athletic shoes and socks, a backpack, a healthy snack, dental products, a picture with a superhero, and a new book for every student. Teachers at these designated schools receive a $50 gift card for classroom supplies. Funding comes from our partnership with KRQE, from Assistance League’s Thrift Shop revenues, and from shoe donations collected at Payless Shoe Source.

KRQE Cares Shoes for Kids

Wednesday, August 15th at 6:35 pm

The Isotopes, Albuquerque’s minor league baseball team, in partnership with KRQE will collect new kid’s athletic shoes during their regular game on August 15th. Throughout the month of August there will be a box for shoe collections in the Isotopes office to support the Shoes for Kids August Campaign.

Between August 1 -15 Payless ShoeSource customers can “buy a pair, get a pair”, that is, by purchasing a pair of shoes for children in need, they will receive a pair of tickets for the August 15th game.

KRQE, along with the Isotopes, have provided tickets for all Apache Elementary students, family, teachers, and staff to be at this game. Apache Elementary has been a school who have been recipients of new kid’s athletic shoes.

KRQE has reserved a block of tickets for Assistance League “Shoe Volunteers” to join them at the game and be recognized. Prior to the game, Assistance League members will stand with the on-air talent at the shoe box collection sites, then have seat to enjoy the game.

Promotional advertisements on KRQE will begin airing on August 1st.. What a great way to cheer the Isotopes to victory and share an exciting evening with our friends and the community we serve!
