Montgomery County – Marlene Keeling Receives Ada Edwards Laughlin Award

Marlene Keeling is congratulated by husband, Lin, after receiving the 2017 Ada Edwards Laughlin Award from Assistance League of Montgomery County.

Members of Assistance League of Montgomery County awarded the Ada Edwards Laughlin Award to Marlene Keeling at their annual Christmas luncheon, Marlene has been a member since 2009, and she is known for giving outstanding “behind the scenes” service in a relatively inconspicuous way.

Marlene is at the Thrift Shop several days a week sorting, pricing, and steaming children’s clothes as she prepares to put them out on the floor. This service does not end at the store; she will often wash and price children’s clothing at home. This exceptional effort has resulted in increased sales of children’s clothing in a department that looks great for the customers. Marlene sees the needs in the community, and she works to address them.

Along with her work at the Thrift Shop, Marlene has also worked with Operation School Bell, Pass It On, and Tender Loving Care Dolls.

At the presentation, Marlene was joined by her husband, Lin, as she received a standing ovation from the membership who voted to give her this award.
