$267,500 to 68 Young Adults

This philanthropic program of Assistance League Diablo Valley aids students with educational expenses based upon their financial need, school/community activities and grade point average.  Applicants must be residents of Contra Costa County, California. Recipients of any of our scholarships may not be a chapter member, including Assisteens®, relative of a chapter member, or an employee of Assistance League Diablo Valley.

We offer six scholarships – listed below.

SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATIONS FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2026-27 ARE CLOSED

High School Scholarship

$2,000 to $6,000 will be awarded to graduating high school seniors entering a 4-year accredited college.

FACTORS CONSIDERED: Financial need, academic achievements, school activities, community involvement, employment, and special circumstances.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:   Minimum 3.0 GPA   Resident of Contra Costa Count

Lisa Parker Hurst Memorial Scholarship

$1,500 to $2,500 will be awarded to high school seniors entering a 4-year accredited college.  Applicants must attend one of the following schools:   College Park, Concord, Mt. Diablo, Pittsburg, or Ygnacio Valley High School.

FACTORS CONSIDERED:  Financial need, academic achievements, school activities, community involvement, employment and special circumstances

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum 2.8 GPA  and a resident of Contra Costa County

Foster/Kinship Youth Scholarship

$1,000 to $4000 will be awarded  to current or former students in Foster or Kinship programs. To be eligible an applicant must be enrolling or currently enrolled at a community college, a 4-year accredited college or university, or a Career Technical Education(CTE) Program.

FACTORS CONSIDERED: Academic goals, school and community involvement, employment and special circumstances.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1) a current resident of Contra Costa County, or 2) a former resident of Contra Costa County (formerly enrolled in a Foster/Kinship Program) now living in a different county or state.

There are no specific GPA requirements.

Community College Scholarship

$2,000 to $5,000 will be awarded to a community college student transferring in the fall of the current academic year as a full time junior to a 4-year accredited college.

FACTORS CONSIDERED:  Financial need, academic achievements, school activities, community involvement, employment and special circumstances.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum 3.0 GPA  and a resident of Contra Costa County

Return to School Scholarship

$2,000 to $4000 will be awarded to a student who is returning to school after a gap in their education (usually after high school graduation) or a student already in college who has some gaps of a year or more in their course work, or part time enrollment over a few years.

FACTORS CONSIDERED: Financial need, academic achievements, community involvement, employment and special circumstances.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Resident of Contra Costa County. A high school graduate or a GED recipient, planning to attend or currently enrolled in an accredited community college, career technical school, or transferring from a community college to a 4 year accredited college or university.

Career Technical Education Scholarship

$1,000 to $3,000 will be awarded to students who are enrolling or enrolled in a vocational, trade or career technical educational program.  The award is renewable to complete the program.

FACTORS CONSIDERED:  Financial need, community involvement, employment and special circumstances.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:   2.5 GPA and a resident of Contra Costa County
