MAKE A DIFFERENCE

AND JOIN

“When I retired, I searched for a volunteer organization where my efforts could make a difference in the community.  I joined several organizations but never really felt like I was making a difference. A friend told me about Assistance League of Downey and it was making a huge, positive difference in the community. I joined and know my volunteer hours are making a positive difference”.

Assistance League of Downey is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of 145 hard-working members who gave 18,500, hours in service and served over  4200 individuals in the community last year. The organization relies solely on volunteers and a few part-time employees.

“Transforming Lives – Strengthening Community” is our mission and what motivates us in everything we do at Assistance League of Downey.  In our last fiscal year, we provided new clothing to children and assisted area residents through our philanthropic programs.

“I can wake up each morning knowing I can make a positive difference in our community. It’s truly a wonderful feeling.”

If you are at a place in your life where you have a few extra hours each month and want to make a positive impact helping our community, please call and we’ll take you on a tour of the facility. We’ll show you how our volunteers run and manage a thrift store that generates our funds, and how we converted those funds into helping our community through philanthropic programs.
