History – How we got started.
Mrs. Marilyn Cook Young, otherwise known as Kitty, was born in Davenport, Iowa in 1921. She graduated from the University of Iowa and shortly thereafter in 1943, she married Robert A. Young in Champaign Illinois. When the family lived in California, Kitty was a member of the Santa Monica chapter of the National Assistance League®. Later on, she and her husband Bob moved to Everett and Kitty decided that Everett should have an Assistance League and so she founded one and was president from 1968-69.
As time went on, more women began to work outside the home. To accommodate work schedules, meetings were held in the evening. After the passing of Kitty Young in 1973 at the age of 52, the auxiliary was named in her honor in 1975. The auxiliary meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the Gretchen DeLap room.
