Legacy of Literacy – 2018

A big THANK YOU to all the generous members of the Greater Placer communities who donated an amazing 1800 books to our Legacy of Literacy Book Drive! The books will be donated to area programs to help improve literacy in Placer County.

Along with 120 Assistance League chapters across the country, Assistance League Greater Placer is participating in an annual Legacy of Literacy event to make a transformative difference in the future of all children by promoting literacy.

In support of this event, we are collecting new and gently used books for children Kindergarten to 3rd grade until February 23rd at locations within our community.  Click here to see the locations. Monetary donations for the purchase of books will also be accepted.

To donate now, click here Assistance League Greater Placer’s Legacy of Literacy event will culminate with a celebration of reading at the Assistance League Greater Placer Thrift Shop on February 24th at 1:00 p.m.   Come join us for refreshments, children’s book giveaways, an appearance by the Kids on the Block puppets and much more.

We thank you for participating in the Legacy of Literacy bike raffle that was held at the Thrift Shop on December 19th.  The raffled 26″ Woman’s Evolution Pacific Mountain Bike was donated to us by of our wonderful supporters! The lucky winner has been notified. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to books for children in grades K through 3rd in Placer County.  If you have new or very gently used books for those ages that you would like to donate to this program, please drop them off in the special box locations listed below.
