Assistance League of Greater Wilmington was awarded the 2020 AARP NC Coastal Inspiration Award for Intergenerational Education Trailblazer.  The AARP Inspiration Awards recognize people and organizations that have been working hard across the North Carolina Coastal Region to build better lives and communities.  The awardees are selected after a public nomination process and include Individual and Organization awards in nine categories.   The 2020 Inspiration Awards were presented on February 19, 2021, to those organizations and individuals who share AARP’s dedication to empowering Americans 50 and older to choose how they live as they age.

This recognition of Assistance League of Greater Wilmington as an Intergenerational Education Trailblazer salutes our work with children, families, educators, college students and seniors.   The beautiful crystal award celebrates our many philanthropic programs providing support from the kindergarten years to the golden years.  In addition to the award, which will be displayed in our Thrift Shop at 420 Eastwood Road, we received a delicious cake to commemorate the occasion.
