Paragon Mills Elementary School holds a “Read Across America” celebration every year and Assistance League® of Nashville is always there to help.
This year Governor Bill Lee, his wife Maria Lee, many Metro Nashville Police Officers and Davidson County Sheriff’s Deputies, and other charities joined in the drive-thru book parade held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, 4:30 – 6 p.m. at Paragon Mills Elementary School in Nashville.
Thing 1 and Thing 2 were there making mischief along with at least 20 “Cats in the Hat” giving books to the children. The Book Parade was a huge success! So many books getting into the hands of children, a worthwhile and heartwarming afternoon.
The National Education Association (NEA)’s Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. This year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources that are about everyone, for everyone.
Assistance League® of Nashville volunteers are transforming the lives of children through community programs in the Nashville area. Our goal is to improve children’s self-esteem and academic success while reducing family stress. Our signature program Operation School Bell® provides new standard school attire, new warm coats, and books to children in need. Transforming Lives • Strengthening Community.
