Assistance League’s Literacy For Kids Program Investing In Summer Reading

At the close of the school year, every first grade student at Pine Spring Elementary School in Falls Church, was presented with a new book to take home thanks to Assistance League of Northern Virginia’s Literacy for Kids program.

Students at the school have weekly sessions with our member volunteers who provide assistance with unfamiliar words and work to develop familiarity with recognizing sounds and word families and encourage comprehension. Teachers and staff at Pine Spring are very supportive and enthusiastic as the students receive individual attention and reinforcement during their one-on-one sessions.

We are grateful to our dedicated volunteers who look forward to exploring more books with these students during the next school year at Pine Spring.
