We are extremely gratified to have been awarded a generous grant from The Giving Circle of Heritage Hunt, Gainesville, VA, in support of our efforts to reduce food insecurity in our community.  In March, we suspended our Weekend Food for Kids program, by which we distributed 1800 bags of nonperishable food each month to needy children at six elementary schools in the region.  The bags provide 4 meals and snack items for low-income students to take home on weekends when school meals are not available.  Because of our commitment to address childhood hunger, we began providing $20 food gift cards to the families of students at the elementary schools that could distribute them, in lieu of the weekend food bags.  We have continued that effort each month since April.  The grant from Giving Circle will fund the purchase of food gift cards for families of students at three elementary schools in Manassas, Prince William County.

Our chapter has benefitted from the considerable support of the Giving Circle each year since 2017, and the grants awarded us in the 3 previous years have been used to fund our Weekend Food program and our New Clothing for Kids efforts.  We greatly appreciate our continuing partnership with Giving Circle and the generosity of the residents of Heritage Hunt.
