Assistance League of Northern Virginia is pleased to report that we have again provided in both November and December four hundred $20 grocery gift cards to needy families in our community.  The cards were delivered to the six schools that normally would have received our Weekend Food for Kids food bags.  In addition, we were able to add a seventh school, which received 40 gift cards both months, thanks to our recent receipt of a grant.  We know that families’ resources are stretched even thinner now and we continue to receive expressions of gratitude from the families who received the gift cards.  One school principal conveyed the appreciation of her school’s families and noted that our “generous donation of gift cards has helped families facing difficult times during the pandemic.”  She added:  “Parents are truly appreciative of these cards and their smiles convey their thankfulness.”  Since spring, we have distributed 3,680 gift cards, with a total value of $73,600.
