Various ALNV members and their guests take swings at the Swing Fore our Kids event

On a bright and sunny October Sunday, members and friends of Assistance League of Northern Virginia came together for 3 hours of fun and camaraderie, great food, and some serious competition while participating in our Swing Fore Our Kids event at Topgolf in Ashburn.  Whether practicing their drives, playing simulated rounds of golf, or just schmoozing with friends, everyone had a fine time.

Although seasoned golfers and duffers alike enjoyed seeing how far they could hit the ball, several of our more competitive guests participated in a ‘Beat-the-Pro’ shoot-out in which each golfer vied with the Pro to hit the longest drive.  The winner’s prize was two rounds of golf at Westfields Golf Club in Clifton.  Special thanks to Westfields for donating that prize.

Our guests also enjoyed snacks and appetizers while golfing, and then a savory lunch that was capped by a tempting array of ‘Bundtinis’ donated by Nothing Bundt Cakes, in Herdon.  Everyone relished those yummy morsels!

The finale to this event was the selection of the five winning tickets for the fabulous raffle baskets.  Each basket contained items related to a special theme:  Who Wants to be a Millionaire, It’s Wine O’clock, Hello Fall, Appletini, and Eat, Sleep, Football.  We are sure the five winners had much to be happy about.  All those who did not go home with a basket, nevertheless had a fun afternoon and also knew that their attendance provided additional funding that will help us continue our philanthropic programs that feed, clothe, comfort, and nurture some of the most vulnerable in our community.
