About 20 of our caring members met recently to assemble new clothing items for the 8 elementary schools we serve in Fairfax and Prince William Counties and Alexandria City.  After receiving input from the schools regarding the sizes needed for boys and girls, our bargain-conscious members found great deals on the requested sweatpants and sweatshirts, leggings, long-sleeved T-shirts, underwear, and socks. The member liaison for each school, aided by another member, checked the packing list showing the school’s request before selecting the items and packing them for delivery.  In all, nearly 800 items of clothing were provided in October, in addition to our delivery of nearly 600 items to those same schools in September.  We thank the Dunbarton Hugs Team for donating the underwear and socks they received from their collection drive.  Special thanks also to Potomac River Running for donating racing shirts that we also delivered to the schools.  We will soon provide winter jackets and hand-made hats and scarves to those 8 schools, so students will be ready for winter.
