Assistance League of Northern Virginia was privileged to again receive a generous grant from The Giving Circle of Heritage Hunt to fund our Weekend Food for Kids Program.  The Giving Circle is a nonprofit organization through which residents of the Heritage Hunt community in Gainesville pool their individual contributions to help charitable organizations in Prince William County.  This year, The Giving Circle awarded grants to 13 local nonprofits to address issues such as food insecurity, literacy, and housing.  We will use our grant to purchase the items for the 850 food bags that we deliver each month to students at three Title 1 elementary schools in Prince William County.  Those students receive free or reduced-price meals at school during the week but might lack sustenance on weekends.

For the past five years, Assistance League has benefited from the generosity of Heritage Hunt residents, who have awarded us with grants totaling about $26,000 that we have used to purchase clothing and shoes, grocery gift cards (during the pandemic), and food for our weekend food bags.  We are very grateful for the sustained level of support and hope we can continue our partnership with The Giving Circle for many more years.
