Two ALNV members show the bags that were prepared as part of their Bedtime Hugs event

Fifteen of our dedicated members gathered recently to pack nearly 300 Bedtime Hugs Pillows for kindergartners at 3 local elementary schools and 50 toiletry kits for a school in Alexandria.

A collection of prepared bags of beanie babies and hygiene supplies for local NOVA children

Each Hugs Pillow held a Beanie Baby, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and a copy of The Hug Book. The teachers and the kiddos were very excited to receive these beautiful pillows handmade by the Dunbarton Hugs Team in Bristow.  Our members loved the challenge of finding the perfect Beanie Baby to coordinate with the pattern and color of the pillow.  One member expressed appreciation that this Hugs project will help instill in Kindergartners the importance of a good bedtime routine.

ALNV members review and prepare for the packing event

Fifth graders in Alexandria will receive their toiletry packages this month, which contain a comb and hairbrush, a toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, soap, and shampoo.  The school’s counselor will use the kits in connection with the curriculum regarding the importance of good hygiene.

ALNV members display the various packages they've made as part of the Bedtime hugs event.
