The start of an assembly line for the Weekend Food for Kids event

Our dedicated members joined employees of Dominion Energy and friends from Sandy Spring Bank and RBH Global Wealth to pack bags of nonperishable food for delivery to six schools in Fairfax and Prince William counties this month.  In just over an hour, thanks in part to the lively background music that accompanies this effort, we packed 1680 bags of food and delivered them to the schools the same day.  We also provided grocery gift cards to a seventh school.

We were able to enhance this month’s food deliveries because of a donation by Dominion Energy of disinfecting wipes.  Dominion, a long-time supporter of Assistance League of Northern Virginia and our Weekend Food for Kids program, donated 126 containers of the wipes that were provided to the schools.  All our school contacts greatly appreciated receiving the disinfectants.  One school administrator who happened to be using a wipe to disinfect a desk when the deliveries were made, remarked: “We use a lot of those wipes every day. Thank you very much.”

We are very grateful to partner with many caring people and organizations to do so much good in the community.
