ALNV members sorting through the toiletries and baby-items that will be packaged and donated

Fourteen of our members met recently to package toiletries and baby items.  We packed 200 toiletry bags that were distributed to 5th and 6th grade students at two schools in connection with their hygiene lessons.  The toiletry kits contained a washcloth, comb, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush.  We enjoyed the challenge of getting all those items into each bag!  This school year, we have donated 928 toiletry kits to 7 schools.

We also assembled 54 packages of baby items.  The “Baby Bundles” were delivered to a clinic that serves low-income families and contained a hand-made blanket, soft hairbrush, washcloth, burp bib, 2 onesies, and a board book for the new mom to read to her infant, along with assorted crocheted items such as booties and hats.  The Hugs Team at Dunbarton, in Bristow, donated most of the blankets and crocheted items.  One of our members donated 2 crocheted blankets and another donated cloth blankets, burp bibs and washcloths.

In less than 90 minutes, our members assembled and shared a lot of love and touched the lives of 250 in our community!  That’s why we do what we do!
