Assistance League of Northern Virginia is very grateful to have received a generous grant again from The Giving Circle of Heritage Hunt.  The Giving Circle is a nonprofit organization through which residents of the Heritage Hunt community in Gainesville pool their individual contributions to help charitable organizations in Prince William County.  The Giving Circle awarded grants totaling $91,000 to 17 local nonprofits this year that address issues such as food insecurity, literacy, mental health, and housing in Prince William County.  We will use our grant to purchase items for the 860 food bags that we deliver each month to students at three Title 1 elementary schools in Prince William County as part of our Weekend Food for Kids program.  Students at those schools receive free meals during the week, but might lack sustenance on weekends when school-provided meals are not available.

Assistance League has benefited from the generosity of the Heritage Hunt residents for many years.   We have used previous grant funds to purchase clothing and shoes, grocery gift cards during the pandemic, and items for our weekend food bags.  We greatly appreciate the inspiring generosity of the Heritage Hunt residents and their sustained level of support.  We hope to continue our partnership with The Giving Circle for many years.
