We are very pleased that our partnership with Giant Food will continue in the new year. Over the past few years, many Giant Stores have selected Assistance League of Northern Virginia to receive the proceeds from its Bloomin’ 4 Good and Community Bag programs. Throughout January, we will receive $1 for every grocery bag sold at the Giant Store at 7137 Columbia Pike in Annandale. Through the Community Bag Program, shoppers can support their community and the environment by purchasing these durable, reusable bags.
We share Giant’s commitment to reducing hunger in Northern Virginia. Each month during the school year, through our Weekend Food for Kids program, we deliver 1720 bags of nonperishable food to students at Title 1 elementary schools in the area and grocery gift cards to families throughout the year. Food insecurity is a serious and growing problem. We welcome the endorsement of Giant Food in our efforts to help alleviate the problem.
