The many bags packed as part of this WFFK event
Our April Weekend Food for Kids event was another smooth operation, with about 60 volunteers from Assistance League, Dominion Energy, Didlake, and the community who packed 1720 bags of food for six schools in Fairfax and Prince William counties in about one hour.  This feel-good event was enhanced by the return of our DJ, so everyone could pack while enjoying a medley of oldies.  We also provided some emergency grocery gift cards to those six schools and grocery cards to a seventh school.

As we’ve done several times this year, we also delivered new clothing items to seven schools in April, based on their specific requests.  The 255 items included socks, underwear, hoodies, sweatpants, leggings, shorts, and T-shirts.  The focus for our clothing distribution in May will be warm-weather items, such as shorts and short-sleeve shirts.
