We recently held our first book fair of the school year at Dogwood Elementary School in Reston.  At this fair, which we call “Build a Child’s Library” events, volunteers arranged lots of new books on a variety of topics to ensure that the 730 students could each choose a book that interested them. Their teachers and our volunteers helped the students when they couldn’t decide on a book.  Once the students selected their books, they signed their names inside the front cover, and they had a new book to take home and keep.  Our volunteers enjoyed seeing their happy smiles as much as the students loved finding their perfect book.
