Besides packing 1900 bags of weekend food for kids each month, and providing new clothing and books to the children, we have been busy welcoming new members and meeting with the community through a volunteer fair.
On October 2, we hosted an orientation and welcome coffee for our two newest members that provided a wonderful opportunity to explain the ins and outs of our organization and answer questions our new members might have. We were also able to pair the volunteers’ strengths and talents with the programs and needs of our group.
The Springfield Town Center hosted a Venture into Volunteering Fair over the weekend and our volunteers met with community members who were interested in finding out more about Assistance League and our mission. Our volunteers enjoyed spreading the word about our Operation School Bell programs and the fun we have supporting the children in our community. Who knows? We might see some of these people at an upcoming meeting or event.
