We recently hosted our second Build-a-Child’s-Library event of the school year, at Lynbrook Elementary School in Springfield. At these book fairs, every student selects a new book to take home on a topic that interests them.
As our volunteers were setting up the day before, a student came to the door and asked, “Is tomorrow when we get a book to keep?” She was so excited when the answer was: “Yes.”
We provided new books to nearly 600 children in Pre-K through 6th grade. Twelve of our volunteers helped the students find their books and sign their names inside the cover, making it theirs to keep. The smiles on the faces of the children were proof that the event was a huge success.
