Summer will be here soon. That’s a time when elementary students can lose a lot of ground if they don’t keep reading over the break. We provide new books each month over the summer to students in low-income families at the elementary schools we serve so they can continue reading while school is out
You can help support our literacy efforts by making a selection from our April wish list. This month’s New Books for Kids Wish List includes popular favorites for young children such as Good Night Moon and Corduroy, as well as “I Survived” books describing historical events. The list also includes sports-focused book sets to appeal to the sports enthusiasts and several dual language books. We have something for every grade level.
Use this link: https://tiny.alnv.org/7gs or scan the QR code on the flyer to make your selections, and choose Assistance League of Northern Virginia as the shipping address for prompt delivery. If you prefer not to order through Amazon, you can make a donation and send a personal check for the items. Send your check, made out to ALNV, to P.O. Box 209, Herndon, VA 20172 and include “Wish List/April in the memo line.
Your contribution will help provide vulnerable students with ready access to books to assure their skills don’t slip over the summer break. Explore all our programs elsewhere on this site.
