Once again, we are offering the Official White House Holiday Ornament as a fundraiser. Each year, the White House Historical Association (WHHA) creates a new design to commemorate a special event, person, or place. This year’s ornament celebrates the 150th anniversary of the state dinners at the Executive Mansion. The front and back of the ornament feature two iconic plates from the White House china collection.
As noted by the WHHA, this year marks the 150th anniversary of state dinners at the Executive Mansion, known today as the White House. It all began in 1874 with President Ulysses S. Grant, who welcomed King Kalākaua of Hawaii to a table set with purpose and pride. That evening sparked a tradition that has endured for a century and a half, blending the elegance of fine dining with the weight of international relations, fostering bonds between America and the world.
Proceeds from this and all our other fundraising efforts support programs that help Northern Virginia children and families by providing food, clothing, books, and other essentials.
