ALNV volunteers help children select books

We recently held a book fair at a local Title 1 elementary school, where 311 students selected a brand-new book on a topic of their choosing.  Nine of our members were on hand to help students find the perfect book, add a stamp to the book stating: ‘This book belongs to:,’ and help younger students sign their names.  These annual “Build a Child’s Library” events are as much fun for our members as they are for the students, because we get to share their excitement at finding a special book.  The students thanked us for their new books and many remembered us from previous years.  One group of happy students returned to their classroom with their new books lifted high!
