Scholarship Applications – Apply Now

An annual tradition at Assistance League of Orange since 1948 is to honor local high school seniors with scholarships for college. Last year over $26,000 was awarded to 19 students from across the Orange Unified School District high schools. The scholarships are awarded based on students’ community service, academic achievement, financial need, leadership, and positive references. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and either attend an OUSD high school or reside within the OUSD boundaries. The application for the 2017 awards can be found at www.alorange.org under the “Scholarships & Grants” tab. The deadline is April 1.

General Scholarships are available for students pursuing any field of post-secondary study at a 4-year college or university, community college or trade school. Three specialized scholarships are also available: the Eugenia Love Arts Scholarship given to a student pursuing education in the arts; the Alfreda Niewig Nursing Scholarship for a student planning a career in nursing or health care; and the ALO Memorial Scholarship for Special Needs Students, which is awarded to a student enrolled in an education program addressing intellectual or physical challenges. Qualified students may apply for both general and specialized scholarships.

These scholarships are available to support young women and men who will have the opportunity to make a difference in our community and beyond. In accordance with Assistance League bylaws, family members of Assistance League members are not eligible. Please contact Sharon Algeo at skalgeo@sbcglobal.net or 714.637.5338 for more information.
