Orange Public Library

407 E Chapman Ave, Orange

  • Storywalk journey from the Library to City Hall and back to the Library!
  • Free books for children ages under 12 years old!

Orange Blossoms and Assistance League of Orange join over 120 Assistance League chapters across the U.S. to better communities through literacy.

In lieu of our traditional indoor Storytelling event, we are adapting our program to be an outdoor walking experience! This will allow for ample social distancing due to COVID-19 safety precautions.

This year guests will arrive at the Orange Public Library off Chapman where they will report to the welcome tables and receive a brochure with maps detailing the routes and stops for the pages of each book. There will be two routes offered, both routes starting and ending at the library, which will lead to walking to Orange City Hall. The different routes will allow attendees to be safely spread out and give them an option of their Storywalk journey. All attendees are welcome to do both routes as well.

Along the Storywalk, guests will stop to read pages from either “The Cat in the Hat” OR “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!”.  Volunteers from the Orange Blossoms will be stationed along the route to stamp guests’ maps. When completed, guests will return to the library where children 12 and under will receive a free book when they show their stamped maps.

The Orange Blossoms have hosted this event at the Orange Public Library off Chapman for the past 9 years, which would typically include crafts, snacks, story readings, appearances by Cat in the Hat and other characters, as well as each child receiving a brand new book of their choosing.
