The holiday season is made extra special with the return of the beloved Breakfast with Santa, hosted by Assistance League of Bend and the Pine Tavern. For 31 years, this festive event has brought joy to local foster families, providing a morning of fun, food, and holiday cheer. Held at the historic Pine Tavern in Bend, the event includes a complimentary breakfast for foster families, and an opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Children enjoyed a variety of activities, including cookie decorating and face painting, adding to the festive atmosphere. Every child also received a special gift, and were entered into a drawing to win one of several Lego sets, generously donated by a caring member of the community. Event chair Dana Barron shared the heartwarming story of a seven-year-old girl who won a Santa’s Sleigh Lego set. Barron noted that the young girl was “over the moon with excitement” to take home such a special gift. Her foster mother shared how this was the first time the child had ever met Santa and received a real Christmas gift.
The event was open to the public, and proceeds from each paid meal went directly to support the event for foster families. It’s moments like these that make the holiday season brighter for those who need it most.
