Assistance League of Southwest Washington has asked one of its own, Anne McEnerny Ogle, to emcee their signature fundraising event on Monday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Vancouver Hilton. The 2016 Sleigh Bell Benefit includes craft and holiday boutiques, a silent auction and a luncheon. Registration is $65 per person.
Assistance League programs serve local families and children at crisis points in their lives by providing clothing and skilled support. The all-volunteer group sees that those treated for assault in local emergency departments can leave in brand-new clothing to begin the healing process. Victim’s damaged clothes are often kept as evidence by law enforcement.
They also provide new clothes to teens who suddenly enter foster care, often with only the clothes on their backs. Other Assistance League programs help schoolchildren from impoverished families and youngsters in foster care.
