Caring and Sharing is one of our chapter’s original programs, beginning in the mid-1970’s. Members of Caring and Sharing provide regular fellowship and musical entertainment to residents of three long-term care facilities in Eugene. A group of singers makes hour-long monthly visits, which include socializing and sing-alongs. Several times a year, Caring and Sharing organizes seasonally-themed parties. A highlight of the fall is a barbecue with a “hillbilly band.” These get-togethers have become very special to both members and residents.

This program has served over 35,000 residents since its inception. Communicating with seniors has been a rewarding and fascinating experience. The sharing of life experiences with people born in a different era benefits all involved.
