Grants enable us to clothe more schoolchildren! We are grateful to community sponsors for their generous grants. In November, 2017, The Robert K. and Anne H. Zelle Fund for Education of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee awarded a $6,000 grant. This money will be used to provide 2 pants, 2 polo shirts, socks and […]

Read Across America

On March 01, 2018, Assistance League of Nashville celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss by reading at Paragon Mills Elementary. Ten volunteers read to grades K-4 from the books provided by librarian, Teresa Davis. A highlight for the students is having “Cat in the Hat” or Thing 1 or Thing 2 visit their classrooms.

Legacy of Literacy

Assistance League of Nashville participated in the Legacy of Literacy campaign on February 15 by delivering 510 books to the Andrew Jackson Boys and Girls Club in Nashville. Two hundred and fifty students received 2 new or very gently used books collected by B.B. Logan and Betty DeGraaf who spearheaded this project. Seven volunteers helped […]

Christmas Brunch

Members and guests enjoyed a Christmas themed brunch at the beautiful home of member Sharon Beckner on December 13, 2017. Attendees were asked to bring books for the upcoming “Legacy of Literacy”. The books will be presented to children who attend Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. President Suzanne Baker thanked members for their […]

Winter Warm Up

Volunteers delivered 601 warm coats to six Metro Nashville Public Middle Schools on November 3,2017. This mission was a collaborative effort with Macy’s Department Stores, Amerigroup, and Soles4Souls. Martha O’Bryan Community Center and Nashville Children’s Alliance also received coats well ahead of the brutally cold temperatures.
