Anne Banning Leadership Award

You may remember that Anne Banning was a founder and early leader of Assistance League.

The person who wins this award exemplifies the following:

  • major leadership roles,
  • sustained enthusiasm,
  • guidance and participation in chapter programs and activities,
  • enhancement of current chapter initiative such as in the areas of membership, resource development or marketing, represents the chapter mission and values in the community. Nominees for this award included:  Kathie Hafner, Kriss Stewart, Krista Ross, Cheryl McGlocklin, Beverly Charles, Angela Bear, Nancy Schaefer, Helen Clark and Nancy Lettow.

The winner of this award is a calm and steadfast presence in our midst.

A former teacher, she works so students like those in her classes have a chance to achieve to their full potential.

  • She surely exemplifies the mission of ALNC.
  • She is currently working on the Board of Directors.
  • She serves on the Membership Committee paving the way for new members to become fully involved,
  • She participates in Makquerade Brigade, New Haven Boys.
  • She coordinates involvement in the Senior Expo, Health Expo and Police Night Out. In the past she has been Marketing Chair, Footsteps Chair, Home Alone Chair, and an active member of Working Professionals, among many other roles.

This person is kind, a good listener, and always ready to lend a hand.  Our 2026 Anne Banning Award as elected by the membership goes to Fran Tovar.
