President’s Message “March”

President’s Message for March As I ponder this month’s President’s message words seem to spring onto the page like handsprings across the paper. Is it spring break for your children or grandchildren? Is it springtide at the beach? Is the mainspring of your volunteering to be a positive difference in other’s lives? As you can see, spring has sprung, a season of growth, renewal, and new beginnings. March is when we renew our membership, and as you have probably seen from Leslie’s philanthropic report, we have completed most of our programs donating to children throughout Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista during the fall and winter and are now beginning the process of electing a new board, submitting a new budget, and looking towards implementing new plans and ideas.

The Old English word for spring is Springan: “meaning to leap, burst forth, fly up, spread and grow!” Sounds like our organization. We have implemented a new technology committee and a new board position of director of technology. We are now having each program host our monthly general meetings and had an amazing fall gala at Ocean Hills. Our membership continues to grow. With our annual chapter review the ideas for a new mentor program and hospitality group were suggested and will begin this spring. March’s guest speaker, Matt Zarcufsky, will be sharing a program he would like our chapter to pilot, titled CAYS.

“Spring is more than just the changing of season’s, it is the rebirth of the spirit.” Toni Sorenson. “Spring is a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be.” Unknown author.

You have helped plant the seeds of change for so many children these past two season. From keeping them warm with jackets, clothing, blankets, and shoes, to nourishing their hearts and minds with books, teacher grants and scholarships which provided new growth for each of them.

“Spring is the fountain of love for the thirsty winter.” Mania Khan

Thank you for all you do! As we begin this new season, John Muir is quoted as saying, “Spring work is going on with joyful enthusiasm.”
