Assistance League of Northern Virginia is excited to announce that we will participate in two free events in mid-October with the aim of showcasing our philanthropic programs and recruiting new members to our small but mighty organization.

On Saturday, October 14, our members will join other groups at the annual Centreville Day Community Festival in Historic Centerville Park, at 5714 Mt. Gilead Road from 10 am till 4 pm. This year’s theme is: Communities Working Together. Besides enjoying the fun and games, visitors learn how to work together to overcome some of today’s challenges. Our members will be available to explain what we are doing to address the challenges that young students and their families face, and to invite people to join our chapter and help with those efforts.

On Sunday, October 15, we will participate with other nonprofit organizations and local government agencies in the annual Venture into Volunteering Fair, sponsored by Fairfax County and Beacon Newspapers, from noon to 4 pm on the lower level of Springfield Town Center.

At both events, our dedicated members will be available to discuss the many ways our programs have made a difference in the lives of students and their families.
We raise all the funds needed to carry out our philanthropic programs through a variety of fundraising efforts. So, at both events, we will have a supply of the 2023 White House Ornaments ($23 each) to sell (White House Ornaments | Assistance League – Northern Virginia) and will accept donations of gently used sneakers for our GotSneakers campaign. (Got Sneakers | Assistance League – Northern Virginia)

We hope to introduce our wonderful organization to a host of our neighbors at both events and to recruit caring people to help us with our important programs.
