Celebrating Community

Our 20^th Anniversary may be over, but our mission to help our community is still going strong. We invite the public to share in helping and celebrating our community by making contributions from our monthly wish lists.

We partner with Title 1 elementary schools throughout Northern Virginia, helping students at those schools develop a love of reading and a sense of pride in owning books of their own through our Build-A-Child’s-Library program. You can support this wonderful program by making a selection from our December Wish List!

Tee off for a Cause

Our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament and Luncheon Fundraiser is scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2026, at Westfields Golf Club in Clifton. Besides a round of golf in a picturesque setting, you’ll enjoy a continental breakfast and a delicious lunch buffet. We will also have raffle prizes and silent auction items. If your business would like to help sponsor the event, we have different levels of sponsorship that include complimentary foursomes and public recognition. Join us at the Springfield Golf and Country Club for a night of delicious food, great company, community spirit, and beautiful music, while also supporting Assistance League. Gearing up for our Spring Fundraiser!

On Sunday, April 30, we are hosting A LITERARY LUNCHEON & FUNDRAISER, at which two award-winning authors – Sean McFate and Judith Pearson — will discuss their books with Peggy Fox moderating. The luncheon starts at noon, but feel free to come a little early to the Springfield Golf & Country Club, 8301 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, VA, 22152.

WHO will you bring joy to this season?

ALNV is proud to once again offer the official White House Ornaments for 2023! These beautiful ornaments are inspired by the handcrafted Christmas orgnaments used in the White House during the Gerald R. Ford Jr. administration. You can share the news with our official flyer. Tutors Wanted!

Are you interested in making a difference for local children? Assistance League of Northern Virginia is looking for additional members to help support the food, clothing and literacy programs we offer at several Title 1 elementary schools throughout the area. We will be starting an additional reading program at an elementary school in Reston in the very near future and welcome additional participants who are interested in helping young students develop their reading skills. Assist Kids and Assistance League

Do you want to make a difference for local children? ALNV is looking for new members to help support our philanthropic programs that provide food, clothing and literacy programs at several Title 1 elementary schools throughout the area. We offer many opportunities to use your special skills and to develop new ones, while also making new friends among our dedicated team of caring volunteers. We have hands-on events, such as packing weekend food bags and Hugs Pillows; weekly reading-tutoring programs, and periodic book fairs at the schools. We also have many behind-the-scenes activities, such as drafting grant applications, news releases, letters to supporters, and website support. If your background is tech, writing, graphic design, or photography, we can use your help. If you want to give back to the community in any way, we can use your help. Our membership includes retired and working individuals, women and men, who all share a commitment to help students and their families in the communities where we live.

If you’re familiar with such programs as our Bedtime Hugs program, then you’re familiar with the incredible partnership ALNV has with RightGift. Through the generosity of our members and donors, ALNV has been able to continue to assist and provide for children in the NoVA area.
