Assisteens back in Action

The Assisteens are happy to be meeting in person again and have been quite busy.  They have volunteered for Feeding San Diego, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, Meals on Wheels, the Thrift Shop, and Flowers for Seniors.  We currently have 31 members and are meeting monthly at San Dieguito United Methodist Church.  Space for new […]

Suzy Perry

March 2021 – She has been a member of ALRSD since 2011. She has overseen the PREP program and during COVID she made sure that we have done everything possible to support the Head Start kids and the staff. For Operation School Bell Marshalls – she single-handedly communicated with Marshalls and the Head Start staff to coordinate this […]

Penelope Johnson

April 2021 – This volunteer of the month has served on the Board as secretary. She introduced the Chapter to the North County Philanthropy Council, a group that works to enhance all local charities. Through them, we received a mentor and were introduced to Salesforce. Her work on the Legacy Committee is the main reason for […]

Lisa Zimnowodzki

May 2021 – Lisa joined ALRSD 5+ years ago. She enjoyed working on fundraising events, but has found the backroom donation processing to be the perfect spot for her. Thank you, Lisa, for your weekly processing in the backroom and for the unusually demanding effort that went into our successful Mother’s Day jewelry sale.

Jane Woulfe

May 2021 – Jane joined in 2009 and was asked if she’d be willing to take over the jewelry displays at the shop. Jane said yes and continues to be delighted at the treasure hunt that ensues each time she opens a bag of donated jewelry items.

PREP

Although the PREP tutoring program has been put on hold because of the pandemic, we have tried to find other ways that we can help the Head Start kids. Marilyn Scheininger

I chose to make a legacy gift to ALRSD because I want to continue to make a difference in the lives of those that we serve for years to come.  When I retired, I looked for purposeful work in an organization whose values I support.

Judy White

Years ago when I was an active volunteer with another organization, I learned about their Legacy Circle and was asked to participate.  I felt so impressed with their achievements in our three-county area that I wanted to continue to contribute to their cause.

Steve and Kathy O’Leary

Why did Steve and I decide to donate to the Legacy Fund as part of our trust? Steve and I have been fortunate to have had fulfilling careers.  I was a teacher and he was a mechanical design engineer. We planned well for our retirements and have been able to
