Action Week February 25- March 2, 2019

Join the Wichita Chapter of the Assistance League as we celebrate our community connections with other chapters of the National Assistance League. This year we are celebrating Literacy through a variety of events across the nation. In Wichita we are collecting books for Harry Street Elementary to use in a special take home book event. We would like anyone in Wichita to help us as we collect books for 400 children prekindergarten through fifth grade. Please bring new or gently used books to our Thrift shop at 2431 E Douglas.

Do you have a beloved book when you were a child? We’d love to have you bring a copy of that book and donate it to inspire another child.

Wichita’s Harry Street School is located in a low-income area where over 90% of the children qualify for free lunches in a neighborhood where there is daily food, shelter, financial and parental insecurities. When your mom says you have to move (again), all a child can usually take is what fits in a small bag. A book is small and portable.

Bring 1 book to the Assistance League of Wichita Thrift Shop — more is welcome. We need 400 books by March 2nd.
