ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF WICHITA (ALW) HONORS VOLUNTEERS

ALW members celebrated the year of service to greater Wichita during the late May chapter meeting, Chapter honors were announced and recipients were thanked for their vital work in support of the Assistance League of Wichita mission to transform lives and strengthen community.

THANKS TO GREAT VOLUNTEERS, CHRIS REED AND LOTTIE MILLER!
Assistance League of Wichita, now celebrating 35 years, recognized two dedicated volunteers who have given devoted service to ALW, its philanthropic programs and greater Wichita.

CHRIS REED, CHAPTER PRESIDENT, RECEIVED THE ANNE BANNING LEADERSHIP AWARD
Assistance League founder Anne Banning promoted the growth of volunteerism through leadership and education. Chris Reed, a member since 2010, has done an exemplary job of leading ALW as president this year. Previously, she stepped up to chair Gingerbread Village and Operation School Bell as well as serving as chapter Treasurer and continues to lead the Thrift Shop’s book and paper goods department. ALW members thank her for years of leadership and setting a good example for all.

LOTTIE MILLER RECOGNIZED WITH THE ADA EDWARDS LAUGHLIN AWARD
The Laughlin Award bears the name of Assistance League co-founder who filled the role of hardworking “behind the scenes” volunteer, serving when and where needed. Lottie is the hardworking “behind the scenes” member who dedicates countless hours of her photographic and computer skills to clearly illustrate the work and impact of Assistance League of Wichita. An active member since 2005, Lottie served as the 2017-2018 president and volunteers at every ALW event and program.

CONGRATULATIONS!
ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF WICHITA member, Ruth Ann Koepsel, assumes her second two-year term to the National Assistance League Board of Directors on June 1st. Elected to her first National Board term in 2021, Ruth Ann chaired the Advocacy Committee as well as served on the Special Committee for Education and Governance Committee. An ALW member since 2013, she currently chairs the Wichita Chapter’s 35th Anniversary Committee in additional to her National Assistance League Board assignments. Ruth Ann was Wichita Chapter President during the 2 very difficult years of CoVid, successfully leading the chapter to continue community involvement in new ways despite the challenges presented. In addition, she previously served as 1st Vice President, Philanthropic Programs, chaired Operation School Bell and participated in numerous other chapter activities and committees.
Congratulations, Ruth Ann, on making a difference at both the local and national levels.
