GREETINGS from the 2020 Day Of Authors Committees!
We are thrilled to announce that we will have our 2020 Day on October 10 at the Rhatigan Center on the Wichita State Campus. As in the past, registration will be $90 for a day of interesting conversation and learning, with food and good company guaranteed. So far, we have partnered with Watermark Books and Kathy Wilson is busy securing other sponsors and partners. The Ambassador Hotel is securing a block of rooms at a special rate for your out of town guests, or a stay-cation for you and your friends in beautiful downtown Wichita.
The Author Selection Committee, (Kay Dunlap, Barb Hubert, Priscilla Taggart, Nicole VanderZiel, and Sarah Bagby) has been very busily reading and studying authors and their publications. They’ve confirmed two authors for us so far.
The first is Leif Enger, an American author from Minnesota and known for several published fiction books titled Peace Like a River (2001), So Brave, Young, and Handsome (2008), and Virgil Wander (2018). We look forward to hearing about his energetic, accessible, and heartfelt style of writing that seems to draw you in eagerly.
Our second confirmed author is Wayetu Moore, a Liberian-American author of Magical Realism. Her debut novel, She Would Be King was published in 2018; and with a publication date of June 2, 2020, The Dragons, the Giant, the Women, her second novel will be hot off the presses for our Day of Authors. Wayetu founded One Moore Book, a publishing and distribution non-profit organization for children in countries not traditionally represented in literature. Her attendance and participation promises to be culturally interesting and engaging for all people.
With this initial contact regarding our 10/10/2020 event, we extend not only an invitation for your attendance and participation, but, to begin your summer reading early. Plan and budget your investments of time and money wisely, and please join us for this exciting day. We encourage you to make a weekend of it! Invite family and friends in for the day or weekend and enjoy what is behind the written word of six interesting authors to visit us.
