ASSISTANCE LEAGUE READS

Create a Generation of Readers

The cycle of low literacy and poverty.

Children who cannot read proficiently by the fourth grade are four times less likely to graduate on time hindering their chances to living a happy, healthy productive life.

Learn to read, then read to learn.

A home with no books and parents who can’t read continues the cycle of illiteracy.  We address that by putting books in the home and reading aloud to a classroom of students while school is in session.  A different title is selected and read each month, with each student being given a copy to take home and share with their caregivers.
