High School Graduating Seniors – Application Deadline – Friday,  April 8, 2024

Assistance League of Irvine awards scholarships to income-qualified high school students planning to attend Irvine Valley College.

One (1) graduating senior from each of the Irvine Unified School District High Schools (Creekside, Irvine, Irvine Virtual Academy, Northwood, Portola, University, and Woodbridge) planning to attend Irvine Valley College will be awarded a minimum $1,000 scholarship. Additional scholarships will be awarded to qualifying graduating Irvine Unified School District seniors planning to attend Irvine Valley College, without respect to high school of attendance, as funds are available.

 

Eligibility:

Graduating seniors from Irvine Unified School District High Schools, planning to attend Irvine Valley College full-time, are invited to apply for a scholarship.  The application deadline is no later than April 8, 2024.  Awards will be announced in early May.

Scholarships will be awarded contingent on verification of full-time enrollment and financial need at Irvine Valley College for 2024-2025.

Requirements of eligibility are as follows:

  • Be enrolled in an Irvine Unified School District high school
  • Be a graduating high school senior who will be enrolled as a full-time college student in Irvine Valley College in the fall of 2024. Acceptance and enrollment by May 29, 2024, is required for receipt of scholarship
  • Complete the on-line 2024 Scholarship Application which includes your written essay of about 500 words on the topic provided and submit the required documents
  • Have a high school grade point average of 2.5 or above
  • Participate in a personal interview with members of Assistance League Irvine
  • Use funds within one calendar year from the official award date

Completed the on-line application form

  1. Includes  500 word essay
  2. Current, official high school transcript, forwarded from your High School to HSScholarship@ALIrvine.org with the student’s name in the subject line
  3. Letter of recommendation from an academic advisor, counselor, or recent instructor, High School principal or vice-principal – submitted to HSScholarship@ALIrvine.org. with the student’s name in the subject line
  4. A second letter of recommendation from an individual not related to you – submitted to HSScholarship@ALIrvine.org. with the student’s name in the subject line
  5. Completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form

Essay Sentence: “It has been said that Education is the kindling of a flame.”

In your essay, tell us about:

  • Your family background and the people who helped you light your candle
  • Include your personal educational goals
  • How this scholarship will help you achieve those goals
  • Discuss your role in the community and ways in which you affect those around you
Incomplete and/or late applications will not be considered
