The new “Rancho del Lago area” elementary school will bear the name of Dr. Caroline Wernli. Dr. Wernli served NISD first as a counselor and then as Director for Elementary Personnel as well as Director of Human Resources for Secondary Personnel for 17 years. She left NISD to serve as Director of Field Experience at the University of the Incarnate Word for 12 years helping to train and place future teachers. She perhaps is best known as a developer and a leader in the Northside School Museum Association, serving as President and continuing to help collect, preserve, protect, and share the history of Northside ISD. The newly-named Wernli ES is funded by School Bond 2014 and is located off Potranco Road on the far west side. It will open in August 2020.

The Bexar Hugs are so proud of Caroline. She joined in 2003 and was president from 2006 to 2008, and now is receiving this amazing honor.
