End-of-Year Celebration

Let’s call this end-of-year celebration to order!! AL of San Jose outgoing and incoming board members held their transitional meeting followed by an outdoor lunch on a beautiful sunny summer day. Assistance Guild of San Jose began on March 17, 1983. Five years later the guild met all criteria to become Assistance League of San Jose. The charter was signed at the Fairmont Hotel on June 3, 1988. We’re now 155 members strong and still growing. Join us!

Did You Know?

AL of San Jose members began the Caring Hands program in 2008 to create knitted and crocheted items for infants, chemo patients and aging seniors. The program continues today and has been enhanced with quilters. In 2021-2022 Caring Hands donated over 7,000 items to local hospitals and shelters.

Thank You from Hayes Elementary School

During the 2021-2022 school year, AL of San Jose’s Readers Are Leaders program distributed over 11,000 books to 1,250 elementary students to keep as their own. Another 600+ books were donated to 53 classrooms. We know that Readers become Leaders!

11,250 books!!

During the 2021-2022 school year, AL of San Jose’s Readers Are Leaders program distributed 11,250 books to students to keep and take home. Story Time at Parisi House on the Hill

Assistance League of San Jose volunteers are excited to begin working as Co-Librarians and Occasional Volunteers during Story Hour / Library Time in the Parisi House on the Hill library.

Interacting with our Community

Every month Assistance League of San Jose volunteers bring Bingo to residents in two rehabilitation facilities. The residents tell us we bring great prizes. We also bring fun, smiles and socialization to their day!

Sorting Clothing at CityTeam

CityTeam is one of AL of San Jose’s programs that meets the needs of our community by helping to provide those that need support in these struggling times. We know they can rise above their circumstances if given the right tools to succeed.

Our Caring Hands group has so much fun creating blankets and hats for newborns and teaching each other crochet tips.
