AL of San Jose Zoom Meetings

Assistance League of San Jose continues to find innovative ways to plan and implement our essential committees and programs. We are now using Zoom for our regular and committee meetings and for program planning. Members’ voices and their smiling faces have encouraged and emboldened us to continue our important work especially during these challenging times.

Keep Calm and Eat Cookies!

Assistance League of San Jose has many volunteers keeping calm at home by baking cookies for the children’s lunch program at Family Supportive Housing. Yum! We are proud to assist this San Jose area shelter which provides temporary housing and specific counseling support to families in crisis.

The volunteer bakers at Assistance League of San Jose baked 480 cookies this week! After baking, these ladies delivered their goodies to Family Supportive Housing, a local shelter. FSH uses these special cookies in their child lunch program and for homework snacks.

Members Donate to CityTeam – Quilts and Toiletries

We miss volunteering on site at CityTeam during COVID restrictions, but are thankful that we can still provide for San Jose’s residents with donations of toiletries and beautiful hand-made quilts to be distributed to people in need of food and supplies in low-income neighborhoods of San Jose.

Caring Hands Layettes Ready for Delivery

Members of our Caring Hands program have been busy creating gifts for new Moms and their little bundle of joys to receive when they leave Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. These colorful layettes await packaging and delivery to restock the cabinets of the maternity ward.  The nurses are then able to select the perfect layette.

Getting Ready for the School Year

Assistance League of San Jose’s Operations School Bell (OSB) program volunteers have been busy unloading, organizing and counting uniforms to be distributed to our San Jose public schools as the new school year begins.

But to continue our mission of transforming the lives of children and adults through community programs our members are now baking cookies and delivering them to FSH to be handed out to the families.
