Scholars’ Hope Scholarships

The chapter’s involvement with El Viento (now known as Scholars’ Hope) began in 2007 when 12 students from Flight 1 of the El Viento program graduated from High School. We provided a $2,000 scholarship per student accepted into a college program for their first two years. In 2008 we expanded our program with El Viento to include sponsoring Flight 8 from 5th grade to 12th grade. The sponsorship was $15,000 per year providing tutors and leadership training one-on-one with each student selected to participate in this rigorous program. Now we help fund the Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math program (STEAM) as well as provide college scholarships for the graduated students in their first two years of college.  In 2017-2018 we gave $78,000 to this great academic organization and its students. The Circle of Giving keeps on giving with Scholars’ Hope teens working in the Thrift Shop and at our fundraiser, Treasures By the Sea.
