The Value of Community Partnerships

Our ability to grow our membership and our business is in part dependent upon our ability to connect with our community. Over the past several years, our ability to connect and partner with other organizations in the community has made a significant difference in our success

Our participation in the Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Westminster Chambers of Commerce, Huntington Beach Coordinating Council and other community organizations and city events has been key to spreading the word about what Assistance League does for our community. Because of our participation in City of Huntington Beach committees such as “Compassionate HB” and the Huntington Beach Special Olympics World Games Host Town committee in 2015, we have become even more connected with key organizations and members of our community.

Documentation of Assistance League programs, fundraising events and participation in community events on video has been instrumental in making members of our community aware of what we do. Our partnership with Matt Liffreing (Marketworks Video Marketing) has resulted in over 45 videos which have been included in Huntington Beach’s local television station (Surf City Highlights) and in Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce e-blasts. This has been key to telling our story and our role in the community.

The key to our ability to improve the lives of children and adults in our community has been our educational partnerships with K-12 Schools, Golden West College and other organizations such as Project Self-Sufficiency and El Viento Foundation.

  • Through our partnerships with over 50 elementary, middle and high schools in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Westminster, our chapter has been able to clothe thousands of students for success through Operation School Bell®, Assistance League’s signature program.
  • Through our partnerships with many of the same elementary and middle schools in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Westminster, we have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to teachers participating in the Links to Learning HB program.
  • Partnering with Golden West College has provided us the opportunity to award hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to nursing students and veterans in the Police Academy and Automotive Program at GWC.
  • In support of Project Self-Sufficiency and the El Viento Foundation, Assistance League has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to college bound graduating seniors and single parents.

We have aligned ourselves with over ten organizations in the community through which the Operation New Beginnings program serves children and adults; many of whom come to us in crisis. Through these partnerships, we are able to provide emergency assistance to families who are suddenly homeless due to fire, abusive relationships or other crisis situations.

Without these valuable partnerships, Assistance League would not be able to make a difference in lives of thousands of children and adults in our community every year.
