Giving 4 Tomorrow Transforming Lives with Scholarships

Open the gifts of happiness and prosperity this holiday season and then share them with others.

‘Before enrolling at Golden West College, I was a Sales Associate at Best Buys. Then my Dad suffered multiple heart attacks and my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer.  My family and my life were turned upside down and inside out.

Now I know I want to work in the healthcare field.  After taking a few of the nursing prerequisites, I fell in love with the profession.

Because of my parents’ health problems and accompanying financial problems, I am learning to be self-sufficient and frugal.  I work 30 – 36 hours a week as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Hoag Hospital, Newport Beach.  I have challenged my self academically, I have a 3.36 GPA and I am President of our school’s chapter of California Student Nurses Association.

My immediate goal is to finish the nursing program and start working as soon as possible so I can help my parents financially.   As their son and only child, this should be my responsibility.

Thank you for the scholarship.  It will reduce some of my financial worries. Although life is a challenge, I am exactly where I should be, doing exactly what I was meant to do.’

‘When I was 16, I began working and saving to go to college.  What I saved helps but a college education is much more expensive than I expected.  I work part-time and try hard to stick to my strict budget.  I am single, trying to learn to be self-sufficient.  As a full time student, it is not easy.  I am pleased I currently have a 3.65 GPA and am a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma Phi Honor Society at Golden West College.

My long-term goals are to earn a Masters Degree then to marry and dependably support my family.  Thank you for the scholarship.  The money will help me greatly as I work toward achieving my goals. ‘
