Assistance League of the Bay Area Supports Efforts during Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.

Assistance League® of the Bay Area is proud to work with Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE), hospitals, and police departments through the Assault Survivor Kits philanthropic program.

Kits are assembled by committee volunteers, containing the necessary items for a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault to leave their examination with dignity intact, as their original items are often retained for evidentiary purposes.

Once completed, the kits are delivered to Bay Area Turning Point, The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital, La Porte Police Department, League City Police Department, Memorial Hermann Southeast, and UTMB Health Galveston, depending on the need and current inventory levels.
