Assistance League of Boise will no longer be offering scholarships to CWI beginning with our new fiscal year starting June 1, 2024.  We will be focusing our attention and financial resources in other areas of need in Ada County.  We will accept any current applications until April 30, 2024.

College of Western Idaho Scholarship

Working toward a goal needs support!

Scholarships are awarded for work leading to a certificate program or associate degree through the College of Western Idaho (CWI).  Academic and career-technical programs are designed to give students comprehensive education leading to a job, an associate degree and/or education necessary for enrollment in a four-year college.

Scholarships are available for up to $2000 per year (maximum of $1000 per session) to be applied toward CWI tuition and fees.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be graduating or have graduated from an Ada County high school with a minimum 2.0 GPA or a GED obtained in Ada County.
  • Have been accepted or planning to enroll at College of Western Idaho.
  • Be enrolled in 6 credits or more per semester.
  • Reside in Ada or Canyon County, Idaho.
  • Not be a member, family member or related to an Assistance League member.

NOTE:  Proof of acceptance and enrollment at CWI is required before scholarship funds are disbursed to CWI.

Application Requirements

  • Submit a COMPLETE application no later than 4/30/2024.
  • Submit a certified copy of the school transcript.  You may be required to submit an updated copy if applying for a scholarship before high school graduation.
  • Provide one letter of recommendation written within the last year from a school official, teacher, employer or someone who has known you in the community (other than a family member) for at last one year.  Choose a person who can speak to your determination and ability to succeed.
  • Submit screenshot copies or printouts of your CWI enrollment acceptance and classes you will be taking as soon as available to you.

Scholarship Selection Acceptance and Process

  • The Assistance League of Boise Scholarship Committee will screen and evaluate all applications for financial need, for the determination to gain the needed skills and experience, and for the commitment to succeed in chosen program/career.
  • Applicants will be notified by email or mail of the Scholarship Committee decision. Recipients will be paired with an Assistance League member for periodic communication.
  • Scholarship recipients must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits at College of Western Idaho by the 1st day of the the session or the semester to be eligible to receive the scholarship award.
  • Scholarship funds will be paid directly to College of Western Idaho each session or semester after verifying the recipient’s enrollment for six or more credits.  The funds will be applied to the cost of CWI tuition and fees.
