Assistance League of Mid-Missouri believes that providing financial assistance toward a college degree or skilled training will improve the employment opportunities and financial security for those individuals served. Our annual Professional Achievement Scholarships are awarded to students who have successfully completed 60 hours of college work. Columbia College, Stephens College, the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing, and the University of Missouri College of Education select recipients for these scholarships. Scholarships are also awarded through the Military Heroes Awards at Columbia College. Through Moberly Area Community College, we support students in the Health Sciences Division which includes the LPN and Surgical Technology programs. We also help provide funding for High School Equivalency testing.
In 2019, Assistance League of Mid-Missouri initiated the Carter-MacLellan Make-A-Difference Scholarship to honor two former Board presidents, Judy Carter and Becky MacLellan, who led the effort to establish Upscale Resale. This annual scholarship recognizes one graduating senior at each of Columbia’s four public high schools who has demonstrated a willingness to volunteer and a commitment to serve others.
Scholarships are also provided to younger students through the Columbia Stem Alliance and the Day Dreams Foundation to provide enrichment classes and tuition for extracurricular activities.
